The suboptimal construction of a 30-meter-long drain on Jalan Outer Ring Road, Rawa Buaya Urban Village, Cengkareng, West Jakarta, is making local residents worry their settlement would still be flooded this rainy season. Indeed, the drain looks messy because of incomplete process.
That drain construction project has been neglected for more than a year. If rain poured, this area will be inundated for 20-30 centimeters high because the drain is clogged
“That drain construction project has been neglected for more than a year. If rain poured, this area will be inundated for 20-30 centimeters high because the drain is clogged. The project should have been finished, so water could flow to bigger drain,” said Sormin (51), a tire patcher based on Jalan Outer Ring Road, Monday (12/15).
Responding on this matter, Head of Cengkareng Sub-District, Ali Maulana, admitted already known about this unfinished drain construction project. He promised would coordinate immediately with related unit to finish complete the project.
“Jalan Outer Ring Road is prone to inundation if rain poured. I’ll ask related unit to immediately finish the drain construction project,” he stated.
Meanwhile, when beritajakarta.com tried to contact Head of West Jakarta Water Management Public Works Sub-Department, Pamudji, his cell phone was inactive.
