The Jakarta administration is collaborating with Jakarta Experience Board and e-commerce platform Shopee to succeed Jakpreneur Festival (Jakpreneur Fest) 2021 Bangkit Bersama Shopee (Rise with Shopee).

They (MSME) are the hope and the foundation to recover the wheels of a stagnant economy due to Covid-19 outbreak

Jakprenuer Fest 2021 will be a part of welcoming the upcoming Jakarta's 494th Anniversary with theme Jakarta Bangkit.

It will be enlivened with various activities including Incidental Exhibitions at Mbloc and Kendal Tunnels, Business Competitions, Super Classes, Personal Classes, Jakpreneur Market to Appreciation Night.

This collaboration provides opportunities for MSMEs and stimulates people's purchasing power through various innovations, collaborations, and programs.

Hence, Jakpreneur and MSME members in Jakarta are expected to increase capacity, develop networks, access marketing, export opportunities and provide appreciation for MSMEs.

Jakpreneur is the idea of Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan as an integrated entrepreneurial development program.

"By so, every MSME is accompanied according to their respective phases. We emphasize the collaboration aspect by involving other parties as partners in Jakpreneur programs," expressed the Governor, on the sidelines of Jakpreneur launching on February 2020.

"They (MSME) are the hope and the foundation to recover the wheels of a stagnant economy due to Covid-19 outbreak, thus it needs support from the government, BUMD and the private sector to improve their capabilities, in a bid to boost the regional and national economy. We welcome Shopee's participation in taking part in bringing Jakarta's MSMEs to grow," said Jakarta Industry Trade Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (PPKUKM) Agency Acting Head, Andri Yansyah, in a press conference at Jakarta City Hall, Friday (6/18), as quoted by Jakarta PPID's press release.

Jakarta Experience Board President Director, Novita Dewi explained it was expected to improve business capabilities and MSME development, increase product sales transactions, and improve entrepreneurial skills, which are currently needed, especially during the pandemic when the situation becomes difficult.

"Hopefully, with Shopee, we are able to further improve exposure, mentoring, opportunities for exports to business competition thus can trigger MSMEs to rise again, especially in the capital," he explained,

The series of events started with a Business Competition, which challenges MSMEs to innovate and be creative with their business model. Participants have the opportunity to win cash prizes worth Rp 90 million, which will be announced at Appreciation Night on 27 June. The competition, which was opened on May 24 to June 17, has received quite high enthusiasm with more than 200 participants.

Aside that, they are invited to study together with mentors from various industries through Super Class and Personal Class. It is guided by dozens of mentors who are experts in their fields, Super Class and Personal Class can be accessed for free by the entire community at jakpreneurfest.com, Shopee Live and the Jakarta administration Youtube channel on June 20-22.

To boost MSME transactions, there will also be the Jakpreneur Market at Shopee on June 21 to 30.

Shopee Spokesperson, Radityo Triatmojo added that Shopee together with ShopeePay and ShopeeFood services are very happy to be collaborating with the administration. It is part of our commitment to support the homeland MSME business, especially in today's difficult times.

Jakpreneur Fest, which is part of the Jakarta Anniversary series, would present many activities that is not only increase business exposure but could also improve the quality of business competitiveness and encourage MSME business growth to export.

"Despite it takes place under limited circumstances, Shopee and Jakarta will bring the Jakpreneur Fest experience online through the Jakpreneur Market thus people can enjoy easy access and attractive offers for a range of products from MSMEs and local brands from Jakarta," he explained.

It could be held successfully with the collaboration of Shopee, the Indonesian Shopping Center Management Association (APPBI), Bank Indonesia, Sarana Jaya, HIPPINDO & Inaproduct. It also got support from Jakarta Creative Hub, Mbloc, Dekranasda, Morning Class, Omni Communication Assistant (OCA), Indomaret and PT Jakarta Propertindo.
