To commemorate National Broadcasting Day (Hasiarnas), which falls on every April 1, the Jakarta's Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPID) holds a blood donation and social service event, on Monday (4/12).
This is our routine agenda to support the Jakarta's Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) to secure supply
Jakarta KPID Vice Chairman Rizky Wahyuni disclosed it was a form of concern for the Jakarta KPID ahead of the fasting month of Ramadan.
"This is our routine agenda to support the Jakarta's Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) to secure supply, as blood supplies are dwindling as a result of fewer people participating in blood drives during the COVID-19 pandemic," she expressed, Monday (4/12).
She disclosed, the blood supply in PMI had decreased based on data reaching 60 percent, because of the reduced number of donors. It was because they had to wait for 14 days after the new vaccine.
"Many of the donors prefer to stay at the home, surely we are concerned about this situation. After all, blood is the source of life for our brothers and sisters who are in need," she said.
She added that it was also an important requirement for routine patients such as people with blood disorders, thalassemia and hemophilia, people with kidney disorders, emergency patients and patients with dengue fever.
"This donor program is very useful for the needy. So we invite you (Jakarta people)to participate, if not you, who else?," she added.
As for the information, the blood donor has been ongoing since today, Monday (4/12), at around 2 PM to 5 PM, on the 5th Floor Hall of the Jakarta PMI Building, Jalan Kramat Raya, Central Jakarta. It is supported by the Jakarta PMI, Jakarta Provincial Government, ATVSI, ATVSI, STVNI, ATVLI, ATDSI, PRSSNI, and IJTI.
