Jakarta Environment (LH) Agency has attached a mobile air quality monitoring station (SPKU) in Kota Tua area in order to measure the effectiveness of implementing the low emission zone (LEZ).
The SPKU functions to monitor ambient air quality in Kota Tua area
Extension and Public Relations Division Head Yogi Ikhwan explained, LEZ is an area where there will be reduced mobility within the area by private vehicles and freight transport to reduce air pollution caused by motor vehicle emissions.
"The SPKU functions to monitor ambient air quality in Kota Tua area. It will still be placed there indefinitely," he expressed, Monday (2/8).
Besides reducing gas emissions from motorized vehicles, the area was expected to become an integrated historical and cultural center of Jakarta.
"This area is only for pedestrians, cyclists, public transportation, and vehicles with stickers. The implementation of this policy is 24 hours," he stated.
