Around 32 motorists have been netted for not wearing masks on Jalan Soemarno, precisely in the front of East Jakarta Mayor Office, Tuesday (1/26).

East Jakarta Satpol PP Head Budi Novian said the mask operation at the location involved 30 personnel. Those 32 motorists were subject to social work and administrative sanctions, including singing the song Indonesia Raya and reciting the Pancasila text.

"The sanction is given as a deterrent effect, which aims to minimize the spread of COVID-19," he told.

East Jakarta Satpol PP Operational Division Head Badrudin explained, from 32 violators, 30 were subject to social sanctions by sweeping the mayor's office parking area and the two others chose to pay an administrative fine by Rp 250,000 per person.

"The money is directly deposited into the regional treasury," he exclaimed.
