Pademangan Timur Urban Village Head Bambang Mulyanto said it was an effort to anticipate flooding during the rainy season. Previously the drains were often overflowed and caused flooding in the region.
"The drains are full of mud and waste. That's why we have alerted them (PPSU) since morning," he told, Friday (11/13).
He added the drains were dredged up to 50 meters long with 80 centimeters deep.
"If it is not completed today, we will try to do it on this weekend by involving the water resources sub-agency personnel," he stated.
