Mampang Prapatan Sub-district, South Jakarta determined three priority locations for flood mitigations, namely Jalan Kemang Raya infront of Mama Rosi Cafe and LPPI Campus, Krukut River, and Mampang River.
Flood on Jalan Kemang Raya was caused by overflowing Krukut River
Mampang Prapatan Sub-district Head, Djaharuddin had surveyed those three priority locations, especially Krukut and Mampang Rivers.
According to him, those rivers becomes shallow due to mud sedimentation. Besides, there are many buildings around the rivers which reduces the rivers' width and has a potential to cause retaining wall to collapse.
This condition, he assessed, could make rivers are unable to accommodate lot of waters thus when it is rain, water overflows to residents houses.
"Flood on Jalan Kemang Raya was caused by overflowing Krukut River. Besides, water channels on the road couldn't be functioned well," he mentioned, Thursday (10/22).
In handle it, his side collaborated with related SKPDs to control illegal buildings on river side thus tracts reclaimed by residents can be widened, as well as dredging mud in rivers and channels.
"In order to handle inundation on Jalan Kemang Raya, we deploy Bangka Urban Village PPSU personnel to clean channels thus when it rains, inundation on the road can quickly recede," he stated.
