RB Sutarno, a resident of RW 01, Sunter Jaya, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta has succeeded in developing a waste sorting program in the environment into a waste processing program and a landless reforestation.

For his efforts, he won the Kalpataru award in the category of Environmental Development from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry last July.
He admitted that developing the environment into a green and beautiful residential area required no easy process and took a long time. This program was initiated by sorting environmental waste since 2008.
"RT/RW caretakers and I sorted and processed the waste to avoid buildup," he expressed, Thursday (9/10).
As time went on, they successfully developed a waste sorting program into a waste processing program and a landless reforestation.
Various technological innovations were used, ranging from composter tools, composter pots, biopores, enzyme ECO until aquaponics. They really helped him in the success of the programs that were initiated during this time.
"The tool is simple and efficient. Surely it is accompanied by community empowerment and education efforts," he explained.
He added that the role of the waste bank was very important in environmental preservation. Which was why its existence should be endeavored thus it could create creativity and had its own market share.
"Waste won't run out and can be used as a source of food security thus life can be more beautiful," he stated.
