Some 55 personnel of Satpol PP, Transportation Sub-agency, army and police were deployed to dispel street vendors (PKL) who were still opening stalls along the sidewalk of Jalan Basuki Rahmat or Gembrong Market, Jatinegara.

Most of them were selling children's toys. Seeing the officers, they immediately packed their wares and left the location.

East Jakarta Satpol PP Head Budi Novian expressed it was a routine agenda and monitoring action during large-scale social restrictions (PSBB). Based on the procedures, they were temporarily prohibited from opening its business in a bid to curb the spread of COVID-19.

"We take the persuasive step, this is for their safety and security as well," he expressed, Monday (4/20).

His side also urged citizens and traders to always wear masks in public places.

"Monitoring is intensified, including in the Gembrong Market area. If there are still violations, we will act decisively," he asserted.
