The Jakarta Women and Children Empowerment Integrated Service (DWP), visited and distributed 1,000 packaged rice meals for flood victims in RW 13, Pejagalan Urban Village, Penjaringan, North Jakarta, on Monday (1/6).

Jakarta DWP Chairwoman Rusmiati Saefullah said that the visit aimed to strengthen silaturahmi (friendship) and encourage and awaken the mentality of citizens in facing disasters.

"Alhamdulillah we can share even a little. Hopefully it will be useful for the citizens and blessings for us," she stated.

She also reminded citizens to maintain cleanliness, safety and health in the rainy season.

"Hopefully a disaster like this won't happen again," she hoped.

North Jakarta Mayor Sigit Wijatmoko explained that the inundation in his region completely receded from the citizens' settlements since Sunday (1/5) afternoon.

"Since yesterday we have been cleaning with locals. We also send 25 trucks to transport 20 cubic meters of waste," he closed.
