South Jakarta Maritime Agriculture and Food Security (KPKP) Sub-department has given rabies vaccination to 6,736 animals from January to early December 2019.

"We have vaccinated 6,736 animals in South Jakarta," stated Yuli Absari, South Jakarta KPKP Sub-department Acting Head (Plt), Saturday (12/7).
Those animals consist of 1,488 dogs; 5,138 cats; 32 monkeys; and 78 civets. Rabies vaccination is given to protect the community from zoonotic disease.
"It is our priority to eradicate rabies because since 2004 Jakarta has been declared as a rabies-free area," she asserted.
According to him, Jakarta Government has regulated animals that can transmit rabies (HPR) into Regional Regulation (Perda) No. 11/1995 about Supervision of Rabies Vulnerable Animals and Rabies Prevention and Handling in DKI Jakarta.
