Jakarta Governor, Anies Baswedan gives Jakarta Outstanding Student Card (KJMU) symbolically to 5,061 university students from Jakarta who pursue higher education in 90 state universities in Indonesia for academic year of 2018/2019.

I suggest all of you to get high academic excellence and grow your leadership ability

In his speech, Anies reminds those university students for not wasting their opportunities to study in universities and use it well to achieve academic excellence as well as self-development outside of the classroom.

"I suggest all of you to get high academic excellence and grow your leadership ability. Put your target on those first. This nation needs a lot of educated leaders. Thus I want all of you who receive KJMU, to see this opportunity as a responsibility to be a leader," he asserted at City Hall, Monday (9/30) as quoted from Jakarta PPID Press Conference.

For 2018/2019 academic year, there are 5,061 students in total who received KJMU who study in 90 state universities. For detail, 3,627 students study in 6 state universities in Jakarta and 1,434 students in 84 state universities outside Jakarta.

For information, number of KJMU receivers and universities that collaborate with Jakarta Provincial Government are significantly increased from 2016 to 2019. Starts from 594 students in 46 state universities (2016); 2,191 students in 68 state universities (2017); 4,542 students in 85 state universities (2018), and 5,061 students in 90 state universities (2019). Based on Pergub No. 97/2019, targets of KJMU receivers in 2020 will be expanded that not only underprivileged students from state universities under Kemenristekdikti and Kemenag that can receive KJMU, but also underprivileged students who study in private universities.

"For all campus management, I deliver my gratitude for your participation in this program. Actually, we are not only collaborating with state universities but also with private universities. Because all have involved in educating our nation. Private or state is only status, basically its teaching-learning process is similar. Performance of university teachers from A accredited university, Insya Allah, is not inferior to those in the state universities," he mentioned.

Private universities that will become KJMU partner in 2020 have A accreditation both for institutions and its study programs. Here are the list of those 11 private universities:

- Gunadarma University

- Bina Nusantara University

- Mercubuana University

- Trisakti University

- Tarumanegara University

- Nasional University

- Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. Hamka University

- Atmajaya University

- Trisakti School of Management

- Pancasila University

- Driyarkara School of Philsophy Studies

In this chance, Anies conveyed that KJMU is regional government program that is mostly funded by tax from Jakartans. Thus he hopes all KJMU receivers will give reciprocity in form of their achievement in their studies and be useful through work after obtaining an academic degree from their campus.

"I want you all to maintain the good name as KJMU receiver. Even though it is just one event, it surely takes effect to all KJMU receivers. Thus I want each person to maintain their good names. Insya Allah, later we can develop KJMU to be bigger," he stated.

Anies asked students who received KJMU to be active and involved in various social activities. Moreover, he wants them to follow the rules, graduate on time, and complete their final thesis as well as possible.

"I hope all of you who receive KJMU today to give scholarship to your junior in the future. Promise yourself that one day, you can take a part in giving scholarship to your juniors," he stated.
