Coral reefs are not only home for marine biota but it also gives benefits to environment both in sea and land
North Jakarta Mayor, Sigit Wijatmoko mentioned, this festival displays some marine animals such as seahorses, 'nemo' fish or clown fish, jellyfish, and coral reefs.
"Coral reefs are not only home for marine biota but it also gives benefits to environment both in sea and land," he stated, Saturday (9/7).
In the sea, he continues, coral reef becomes a support to various biota's life. It is used as a place to live, a place to find food, and breed.
Meanwhile in the land, coral reef is used to protect the coast from waves. It also has similar function as plants in the forest since it can minimize global warming.
"Coral reefs are similar to forest because it can absorb CO2," he added.
