We want those who still use the groundwater taxed high
Jakarta Deputy Governor, Sandiaga Uno, said the users of groundwater in Jakarta should be taxed high in order to prevent the occurrence of land subsidence that is triggered from groundwater use.
Responding on this matter, he has asked Jakarta Regional Tax and Retribution Agency (BPRD) and Regional Working Unit (SKPD) related to record the groundwater user in the city.
"We want those who still use the groundwater taxed high," he expressed, in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta.
Currently there have been several areas connected with the piping.
"So there is no reason to use groundwater because many have already piped up by the PAM water," he asserted.
He also wants residents in the residence area, precisely on Jalan Pulombangkeng, Selong, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta to switch to using piped water to reduce the impact of land subsidence.
