The Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Agency is continuing efforts to optimize the functions of Kampung Rambutan 1 Reservoir on Jalan Merdeka 7, Rambutan Urban Village, Ciracas Sub-district, East Jakarta.

also to improve ecological quality, conserve groundwater, and enhance water absorption

The reservoir area is being redeveloped to improve flood control and water management, support environmental conservation and groundwater recharge, and transform the site into a multifunctional blue-green public space for the community.

Head of the Geology and Raw Water Conservation Sub-group at the Jakarta Water Resources Agency, Ikhwan Maulani, said Kampung Rambutan 1 Reservoir covers approximately 4.85 hectares, consisting of 2.53 hectares of land and 2.32 hectares of water.

"The redevelopment of Kampung Rambutan 1 Reservoir is intended not only to optimize flood control, water retention, and water management in the surrounding area, but also to improve ecological quality, conserve groundwater, and enhance water absorption. We want the reservoir area to provide greater benefits for both the environment and the community," he explained on Friday (11/6).

The reservoir will feature a fishing deck, two connecting bridges, an amphitheater, an outdoor fitness area, and a children's playground. The site will also feature an entrance, gabion fence gates, signage, seating areas, park benches, pergolas, toilets, security posts and guardhouses, shelters, and a waste-shredding facility.

The redevelopment also includes pedestrian pathways of various designs, a sky deck, and access ramps to improve visitor comfort and accessibility.

In addition, the project includes landscaping and the installation of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems to support the site's operations, including electricity and water supply networks.

Ikhwan expressed hope that the redevelopment would turn Kampung Rambutan 1 Reservoir into more than just flood control infrastructure and a source of raw water. He said it would also serve as a safe, inclusive, and environmentally friendly public space. The project is targeted for completion in December 2026.

"With these various facilities, the reservoir is expected to serve as a place for recreation, sports, environmental education, and social interaction," he said.
