North Jakarta Parks and City Forests Sub-agency is transforming the space under the Yos Sudarso toll road, right in front of the Plumpang Transjakarta Bus Stop. The 4,700-square-meter area spanning both sides of the street will be turned into a lush, well-lit, and welcoming green space for locals.
North Jakarta Parks and City Forests Sub-agency Head Reina Camelia said upgrading the area is part of the city's effort to make better use of public spaces ahead of Jakarta's 500th anniversary in 2027.
We want to bring greenery to the Jalan Yos Sudarso corridor from end to end
"We want to bring greenery to the Jalan Yos Sudarso corridor from end to end. We're turning the empty spaces under the toll road into attractive spots that truly serve the local community," she expressed, Wednesday (11/4).
Reina pointed out that the area used to be dark and bare. With funding from the 2026 city budget, the space beneath the toll road is set to get a complete makeover that caters to pedestrians.
"We want residents to have access to quality green public spaces, too. Greening projects shouldn't just happen downtown—North Jakarta deserves them as well," she added.
She went on to say that once the arrangement wraps up, staff will be stationed on-site to take care of maintenance and security.
"Ongoing monitoring after the project is finished is our main priority so the green space stays clean and well cared for," she continued.
Meanwhile, Green Belt and Cemetary Section Head Duani Harrie Sibuea said the arrangement covers about 4,700 square meters across both sides under the tollway.
"The plan features vertical parks, fresh greenery and landscaping, new walking paths, park benches, and lighting installations," he shared.
He said the project kicked off in September 2026 through a contractor, PT Sekar Hati Jaya Maju. It is slated to wrap up in December 2026, ready for the public to use in early 2027.
Besides the toll road underpass, the agency is also stepping up greening projects in other parts of North Jakarta.
"One of them is planting tabebuia trees along Jalan Enggano to beautify the cityscape and bring more green spaces to the neighborhood," he stated.
