PT MRT Jakarta will evaluate the safety aspects of its kiosks, strengthen socialization regarding fire prevention, and enhance the preparedness of its emergency response team, following a fire incident at the Blok M Hub in South Jakarta yesterday, Monday (11/2).
Head of the Corporate Secretary Division at PT MRT Jakarta, Rendy Primartantyo, stated that the safety of customers, kiosk operators and staff, as well as everyone else active within the Blok M Hub, remains a constant priority.
We will evaluate the safety aspects
"MRT Jakarta extends its apologies for the inconvenience caused and is giving its attention to the affected employees. We will evaluate the safety aspects of the kiosks, strengthen socialization regarding fire prevention, and enhance the preparedness of our emergency response team," he said, Tuesday (11/3).
Previously, a fire broke out at the Cuanki Sadaya stall, located on the B1 floor of Blok M Hub, on Monday (11/2) at approximately 2:24 PM. MRT Jakarta confirmed the incident, stating that the Blok M Hub operational team, together with relevant personnel, immediately took action to extinguish the fire and secure the area.
The fire was successfully extinguished using a portable fire extinguisher, followed by the activation of the smoke exhaust system. Firefighters from the Kebayoran Baru station also arrived on-site to conduct an inspection and ensure the safety of the affected area.
The two kiosk employees who sustained injuries received initial treatment and were transported to a health facility for further medical care. Operations at the affected kiosk have been temporarily suspended until further examination and treatment are complete.
"Based on initial information, the incident is suspected to be related to a leak in the kiosk's gas stove installation. The exact cause is still under investigation. We appreciate the support of firefighters and all parties who assisted in handling the incident," he admitted.
