A total of 100 residents received free health checks and tuberculosis (TB) screening at RPTRA Tamplas Bambu in Cilangkap Urban Village, Cipayung Sub-district, East Jakarta.
The program is held regularly in different locations, serving 100 people at each site
Cipayung Health Center Head Agung Dewanto said the program is held regularly in different locations, serving 100 people at each site.
"At each location, we target 100 participants for health checks. The program is held regularly in different areas," he said on Friday (10/30).
The program started with an educational session on TB, followed by free health checks and TB screening. The screening also included sputum sample collection for laboratory testing.
"The health checks cover vital signs, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels. TB screening is adjusted to each participant's age and health condition," he said.
Dewi Kusumawati, Coordinator of Community Health Efforts at Cipayung Community Health Center, added that the free health checks also included cholesterol tests and visual inspection with acetic acid (IVA) test.
"Participants can receive the results of certain health checks on the same day," she said.
She added that TB screening results based on sputum samples take around three days because they must undergo laboratory testing.
"We also provide participants with information about TB and leprosy," she said.
Dewi noted that residents diagnosed with TB must undergo regular treatment until they complete the course. TB treatment generally lasts six months, depending on the type of TB and the patient's condition.
"The service involves 10 health workers from Cipayung Health Center, supported by staff from the Cilangkap Auxiliary Health Center and TB volunteers," she explained.
Cilangkap Urban Village Head Suratno said the participants were mainly local residents who had been in close contact with TB patients or shared a household with them. Neighbors and close relatives of patients were also invited to take part as part of efforts to detect TB early.
"We appreciate Cipayung Health Center for organizing these free health checks for Cilangkap residents. This service is very beneficial to the community," he said.
A local resident, Vita, said she took part in the screening because she had a neighbor suspected of having TB.
"Since the free health check program was available, I decided to take part for the sake of my health. I also had my blood pressure, blood sugar, and weight checked. I hope this outreach service can continue," she said.
