A 675-meter drainage channel normalization project along Jalan Kepu Barat in RW 02, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, is targeted for completion by December. The work has involved third-party contractors since work began on October 18.

The drain upgrade uses a 100-meter box culvert and 80x80 cm concrete U-ditches along one side of the street, according to Kemayoran SDA Executing Unit Head Supriyadi.

"Work is currently focused on one side of the road, with the other side set to be tackled in 2027," he expessed, Friday (10/30).

The work received appreciation from the Kemayoran Urban Village Head Fitria Sari.

She added locals have frequently reported water overflowing from the channel during downpours, leading to flooding across the area.

"We hope this work permanently resolves the flooding in RW 02. We also urge residents to maintain the infrastructure by refraining from dumping garbage into the channels," he stated.
