A total of 179 motorcycles were caught parked haphazardly in the Sentra Primer West Jakarta or CNI area, Kembangan, West Jakarta, Wednesday (10/28), were controlled by joint officers from the Transportation Sub-agency, Satpol PP, Army and Police.
It takes up the roadside, sidewalk and bicycle lane
Head Unit of Transportation for Kembangan District, Dedi Setiadi said illegal parking in the CNI area is a persistent problem. Illegal parking perpetrators often play cat and mouse with officers.
"Its existence is being complained about because it takes up the roadside, sidewalk and bicycle lane, thus disrupting traffic comfort," he said.
He added that this operation targeted eight points prone to illegal parking, starting from Jalan Puri Elok, Puri Harum, Puri Ayu, Puri Lingkar Dalam to Jalan Puri Hijau.
"179 motorcycles parked on the roadside and sidewalk were subject to the sanction of having their valves removed," he added.
Dedi hopes that this action will have a deterrent effect so that no more people park their vehicles on the roadside and sidewalks along the CNI area.
Dedi admitted that his party had proposed that five of the eight points prone to illegal parking be officially designated as legal parking locations.
Meanwhile, the other three points cannot be accommodated as legal parking locations, because there are bicycle lanes.
"We will routinely carry out monitoring to ensure that there is no more illegal parking in the CNI area, especially those that intersect with bicycle lanes," he admitted.
