The South Jakarta City Parks and Forestry (Tamhut) Sub-agency pruned and removed 23 trees at 12 locations across Kebayoran Lama Sub-district to reduce the risk of falling trees, particularly during heavy rain and strong winds.

Prevent unwanted incidents when heavy rain and strong winds occur

Sobari, a tree-pruning supervisor at the sub-agency, said the work followed reports and complaints from residents, both directly and through the Jakarta Kini (JAKI) app.

"We regularly prune trees in Kebayoran Lama because we receive quite a lot of reports. Today, we carried out the pruning work as thoroughly as possible," he said on Wednesday (10/28).

Of the 23 trees handled, 20 underwent moderate pruning, while the other three were removed, Sobari noted.

"The work was carried out based on the condition of each tree and the level of risk it posed," he said.

He explained that the trees pruned or removed generally showed signs of posing a hazard, including decaying trunks, dead trees, and branches that blocked street lighting or interfered with overhead cables.

The work is expected to reduce the risk of falling trees that could endanger residents and road users.

"We hope that with the trees now properly pruned, we can prevent unwanted incidents when heavy rain and strong winds occur," he said.

Meanwhile, local resident Farnanda Muhajirin praised the Green Troops for regularly pruning trees considered at risk of falling.

He said early action was essential to prevent accidents caused by falling trees, particularly along roads frequently used by the public.

"I pray that the officers will always be blessed with good health and safety as they work, so they can continue serving the community to the best of their ability," he said.
