Students at SMPN 85 in Pondok Labu Urban Village, Cilandak District, South Jakarta were educated on preventing heart disease through Community Service (PkM) activities organized by the Jakarta I Ministry of Health Polytechnic.

Head of Jakarta I Ministry of Health Polytechnic Team, Tutty Aprianti said the program not only aims to broaden students' knowledge, but also to raise awareness of adopting a healthy lifestyle from adolescence.

Tutty explained that the activities included early detection of the risk of heart health problems, measuring height and weight, calculating the Body Mass Index (BMI).

"As well as education regarding the implementation of a modern lifestyle that supports the prevention of heart disease in adolescents," she explained, Tuesday (10/27).

The team implemented pre-test and post-test methods to determine students' knowledge levels before and after participating in the activity. This was run to measure the effectiveness of the education.

Before the training, 48 percent of students were in the good knowledge category, while 52 percent were in the fair knowledge category. After the training, all participants achieved the good knowledge category.

"All students were very enthusiastic about following the material which provided them with information about the heart organ, various health problems related to the heart, modern lifestyle trends in teenagers, and preventive measures," she said.

Meanwhile, the principal of SMPN 85 Jakarta, Wulandari, stated that the students responded positively to the activity.

"We hope that students as the younger generation can be motivated to apply a wise lifestyle in their daily lives in order to maintain optimal heart health in the future," she said.
