The West Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-agency has partnered with the Telecommunication Network Providers Association (APJATEL) to move 7.6 kilometers of aerial cables underground along nine thoroughfares.

West Jakarta Urban Utility Facilities and Public Street Lighting Section Head Abdul Jabbar explained that the utility relocation was prompted by ongoing sidewalk and drainage construction.

The cable relocation for sidewalk projects started in September

Cable relocation affected by sidewalk construction totals 2,220 meters across four locations: the eastern side of Jalan Rawa Belong (870 meters), the western side of Jalan Roa Malaka Selatan (278 meters), the northern side of Jala Palmerah Barat (405 meters), and Jalan Meruya Ilir (667 meters).

Works also cover northern Jalan Palmerah Barat (405 meters) and Jalan Meruya Ilir (667 meters).

“The cable relocation for sidewalk projects started in September and is set to finish in early December,” he expressed, Tuesday (10/27).

As for cable relocations impacted by drainage construction span roughly 5,400 meters across five locations, namely Jalan Srengseng Raya (1,000 meters) and Jalan H. Lebar (1,300 meters).

Additional stretches include Jalan Tanjung Duren Barat IV (700 meters), Jalan Ring Road (1,200 meters), and Jalan Kamal Raya (1,200 meters).

“Work has been underway since mid-July and is expected to wrap up by April 2027,” he explained.

Jabbar apologized to residents for temporary disruptions during construction.
