The Jakarta government and the Tangerang Regency Government are finalizing plans to develop an integrated agricultural zone in Ciangir, Legok Sub-district, Tangerang Regency.

Discussions focused on land status certainty, permits, and construction readiness during a hearing involving officials from the Jakarta government and city-owned meat vendor Perumda Dharma Jaya on Wednesday (10/21).

We'll certainly give priority to local residents

The project comes as a direct follow-up to instructions from Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung, following his coordination with Banten Governor Andra Soni and Tangerang Regent Moch. Maesyal Rasyid, following Tonny Depriyana, Head of Domestic Cooperation at Jakarta Regional Cooperation Bureau.

He hoped that this inter-regional cooperation would benefit both parties, particularly the surrounding community through area development and food security enhancement.

"He (Mr. Pramono) strongly hopes that the collaboration established between these local governments will be mutually beneficial and bring a positive impact to the public, especially nearby residents in Tangerang Regency," Tonny expressed, Thursday (10/22).

Perumda Dharma Jaya President Director Raditya Endra Budiman explained that the facility is planned to feature a cattle fattening unit with a capacity of 4,000 head, a slaughterhouse capable of processing up to 100 head per day, and a cold storage warehouse.

Beyond strengthening the beef supply across Jakarta, Tangerang Regency, and Banten, the project is projected to generate 100 to 200 local jobs.

Alongside core operations, Dharma Jaya intends to engage nearby residents in livestock feed supply. Supporting amenities are also in the works, such as staff housing and a lakefront tourism site that could host floating eateries run with community involvement.

"We can transform the lake area to include floating restaurants and similar venues. We'll certainly give priority to local residents who want to get involved," he explained.

Dharma Jaya targets kicking off administrative procedures, regulatory permits, and the bidding process in November 2026, with groundbreaking scheduled for December 2026 upon completing all prerequisites.

Meanwhile, Tangerang Regency Government Assistant for General Administration Firzada Mahalli added that spatial data presented during the hearing indicated that portions of the land are still designated as Raw Rice Field Land (LBS).

In light of this, Tangerang has urged Jakarta to consult with the Ministry of Agrarian and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) to verify the land's legal designation prior to any site utilization.

Firzada also stressed the need for a wastewater treatment plant (IPAL) to prevent pollution and odors. While noting the project's job creation benefits, he insisted that construction must strictly follow regulatory standards and inter-regional agreements.

"It creates great potential for local employment, which we appreciate, but all steps must strictly adhere to regulations," he concluded.
