Jakarta's poverty rate fell to 3.96 percent in March 2026, while employment indicators also improved.

Expand access to employment through training programs

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung presented the figures at the 2026 Third-Quarter Regional Budget Realization Press Conference, under the theme "Sustaining Growth Momentum: A Coordinated and Impactful Regional Budget", at Balairung, Jakarta City Hall, on Wednesday (10/21).

"Almost all indicators related to poverty and employment opportunities have improved significantly," Pramono highlighted.

He reported an open unemployment rate of 5.79 percent and a labor force participation rate of 66.05 percent. The Jakarta Provincial Government continues to expand access to employment through training programs, including Mobile Training Units (MTUs) and regular training courses.

Pramono said the Jakarta Provincial Government would continue to maintain public optimism despite economic pressures and global uncertainty.

Jakarta has also made progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as it moves toward becoming a global city. Of the 17 SDGs, the city has achieved six targets.

"I have also urged continued efforts to ensure Jakarta's progress is reflected in the 2026 Oxford Economics Global Cities Index," he said.
