The Water Resources Implementation Unit of Pancoran District, South Jakarta, has succeeded in overcoming the flooding at the access road under the U-turn flyover on Jalan Gatot Subroto, Pancoran Urban Village.
Head of the Unit, Adriansyah said his party quickly followed up on public reports submitted via social media regarding water seepage that inundated the road access.
We immediately checked
"We immediately checked and immediately took action the next day," he said, Tuesday (10/20).
He explained officers found piles of trash, including leaves and plastic, as well as mud blocking the water flow. The mud was found to have originated from black soil in the surrounding park area, which was carried by rainwater into the drainage channel.
"The sloping ground surface at this location causes the black soil to be carried by rainwater into the channel and eventually accumulate," he explained.
According to him, the handling began on Saturday (10/17) with the deployment of four officers. They removed a three-meter-long drain cover to clear the accumulated trash and mud.
"In one day, officers can collect up to eight large sacks of rubbish," he added.
He continued that officers also cleaned the control tanks around the site. This step was taken to ensure smoother water flow and optimize efforts to prevent flooding during rain.
"We've thoroughly cleaned the drains. Hopefully, when it rains, there won't be any more overflow from the drains that floods the access roads," he hoped.
