The Jakarta Provincial Government continues to strengthen flood control efforts through infrastructure development. One example is the Kebagusan Reservoir, built on two hectares of land. This reservoir is targeted to begin operations in February 2027 with a budget of approximately Rp 250 billion.

This effort must be supported

The Kebagusan Reservoir is projected to reduce flood in the upstream Mampang-Krukut River system by up to eight percent. In addition to serving as flood control infrastructure, the reservoir's construction is also part of efforts to manage the river and increase green open space in Jakarta.

The water collected in the reservoir is planned to be processed into a source of clean water for local residents through collaboration between the Jakarta Water Resources Agency and PAM Jaya.

Vice Chairman of Jakarta Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD), Wibi Andrino, supports the construction of the Kebagusan Reservoir as a step to reduce the risk of flooding in South Jakarta.

"The target of reducing flood by eight percent is a positive step. However, this effort must be supported by river normalization, drainage improvements, and routine maintenance to maximize its impact," he said.

Wibi also supports the plan to utilize reservoir water as a clean water source through PAM Jaya. However, he emphasized that water treatment must meet health standards to ensure its safety and provide tangible benefits to the surrounding community.

According to him, the success of the Kebagusan Reservoir construction, with a budget of around Rp 250 billion, cannot be measured solely by project completion. More importantly, it is the extent to which the reservoir effectively reduces flood risk and provides direct benefits to residents.

"The function of green open spaces and public spaces must prioritize safety and not interfere with flood control capacity," he stated.
