If you're looking for something to do this weekend, head to the 2026 Cinta Lingkungan Boat Festival (CiLung) at Sunter Lake Park in North Jakarta this Sunday (10/18).
We invite everyone to come with family and friends
Visitors can enjoy a range of activities, including free boat rides on vessels made from used plastic bottles. The festival also aims to encourage people to reduce waste and keep rivers and lakes clean.
Free boat rides will be available at the public dock from 10 AM to noon after the parade. The Jakarta Environment Agency has prepared life jackets and deployed rescue personnel, medical staff, and ambulances to ensure the event runs safely.
Jakarta Environment Agency Head Dudi Gardesi said the CiLung Festival offers an enjoyable way to raise public awareness of environmental issues.
He noted that the boats, which feature a variety of designs inspired by buildings, animals, and modes of transportation, demonstrate the creative potential of reusing plastic bottles.
Dudi hopes the boats will inspire visitors to reduce waste, sort it properly from the source, and find new uses for items that can still be used.
"We hope the CiLung Festival will raise awareness about reducing waste and keeping rivers and lakes clean. Everyone has a role to play in keeping our waterways clean, and it starts with our daily habits," Dudi said on Friday (10/16).
Dadang Cahya Rusdiana, head of the Jakarta Environment Agency's Water Body Waste Management Unit, said the festival is free and open to the public.
All visitors taking boat rides must wear life jackets and follow staff instructions. Lifeguards will be stationed around the event area, while rescue teams with inflatable boats will be on standby for emergencies.
Safety arrangements will involve trained personnel from the Environment Agency's Water Body Waste Management Unit, the Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency, and the Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD). Ambulances and medical staff from the Health Agency will also be available throughout the event.
Dadang noted that visitors can also learn about waste sorting and view a photo exhibition documenting previous CiLung festivals, in addition to enjoying the boat parade and free boat rides. The Sedulur Bunda Milenial Foundation will also take part in releasing fish fry and pouring eco-enzyme into the water.
"We invite everyone to come with family and friends, follow the safety rules, and help keep the event area clean," he added.
The event will kick off with group exercise and cultural performances from 6 AM to 7 AM, followed by the opening ceremony and a waste-sorting campaign from 7 AM to 7:45 AM.
Fish fry releases and eco-enzyme pouring will take place from 7:45 AM to 8:05 AM, followed by a jet ski demonstration from 8:05 AM to 8:15 AM. The CiLung Boat Parade is scheduled for 8:15 AM to 10 AM, with the public dock opening for free boat rides until noon.
