Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung reaffirmed the Jakarta Provincial Government's commitment to maintaining transparency and being accountable for the use of local tax revenue.
The use of tax revenue was reported transparently
He made the statement while attending the Jakarta Contributors Award 2026 at the Menara Kuningan Ballroom in Setiabudi, South Jakarta, on Thursday (10/15).
"The taxes you pay to the Jakarta Government must, of course, be accounted for," Pramono stressed.
He said the use of tax revenue was reported transparently, with funds allocated to infrastructure development, healthcare, education, and efforts to improve macroeconomic performance.
Jakarta's economic indicators have also shown increasingly positive trends, including a decline in the poverty rate to below four percent and the unemployment rate to below six percent.
However, the Gini ratio remains a key concern for the Jakarta Provincial Government. Efforts to address income inequality include priority programs in education, healthcare, and social assistance.
The government also uses tax revenue to address Jakarta's key challenges, including flooding, urbanization, social inequality, climate change, and traffic congestion.
Pramono assured the public that the Jakarta Provincial Government would account for all spending to maintain public trust in the government.
"Ms. Lusi and I will certainly be able to account for everything related to tax payments in Jakarta. That is the key," he said.
At the event, Pramono thanked taxpayers for their contributions to Jakarta's development and economic growth.
"On behalf of the Jakarta Provincial Government, I would like to thank and express my appreciation to all of you for contributing to Jakarta's development," he said.
Meanwhile, Jakarta Regional Revenue Agency Head Lusiana Herawati said local taxes are the largest contributor to Jakarta City Budget (APBD) and play a significant role in the city's development.
Through the Jakarta Contributors Award 2026, the provincial government aims to recognize taxpayers for fulfilling their tax obligations, particularly the Certain Goods and Services Tax (PBJT), Rural and Urban Land and Building Tax (PBB-P2), and advertising tax.
"The event encourages people to take pride in contributing to Jakarta, promotes voluntary tax compliance, and strengthens partnerships among the government, the public, and the business community," she said.
Lusiana reported that of the Rp49.89 trillion in local tax revenue targeted for 2026, Rp36.457 trillion, or 73 percent, had been collected as of October 14, 2026. This was an increase compared with the same period last year.
"Tax revenue has increased this year, thanks to the contributions of taxpayers and all stakeholders," she noted.
Lusiana also commended business owners for keeping their businesses running, supporting suppliers and business partners, and protecting jobs amid current economic conditions.
"We want businesses to keep operating, meet their tax obligations, and protect jobs, while doing everything possible to avoid layoffs," she said.
The Jakarta Contributors Award 2026 recognized 73 taxpayers across three categories: Certain Goods and Services Tax (PBJT), Rural and Urban Land and Building Tax (PBB-P2), and advertising tax.
"We hope the award recipients will serve as role models and encourage consistent tax compliance," Lusiana said.
