The RW 03 and RW 04 areas of Kali Anyar District, Tambora, have succeeded in reducing the volume of waste dumped at the Bantar Gebang Landfill by up to 50 percent.

Empowering the economy of residents

Head of RW 03 Kali Anyar Urban Village, Agus Kardi explained the party has started building a waste terminal as an organic waste processing facility, as an effort to reduce waste from the source, in accordance with Jakarta Governor's Instruction (Ingub) number 5 of 2026.

"Before the implementation of the instruction, approximately two quintals of waste were produced daily. Now, after sorting and processing, this has decreased by 50 percent," he said, Tuesday (10/13).

Although they have been able to reduce the volume of waste by around 50 percent, Agus admitted that these efforts could be more effective if they received assistance and support from the Jakarta Environmental Agency.

He hopes that the Environmental Agency can facilitate the legality of using the West Flood Canal (BKB) bank land to the Ciliwung Cisadane River Basin Center (BBSWCC) as a Waste Terminal.

If supported by the relevant regional working unit, Agus is optimistic that he can facilitate other RWs that do not yet have waste processing facilities so that the volume of waste produced will continue to decrease.

"Kali Anyar Urban Village is categorized as a densely populated area that does not have land for waste processing," he added.

Head of the Economic and Development Section of Kali Anyar Urban Village, Solihul Amri, revealed that Kali Anyar Urban Village has an area of around 38 hectares and consists of nine RW, 101 RT with a population of 38 thousand people.

Before the enactment of the governor instruction, the volume of waste in all urban villages reached 18 tons.

After the implementation of governor instruction, Amri admitted that there had been a significant reduction, especially in RW 03 and RW 04 of Kali Anyar Urban Village which already have Waste Terminal facilities.

Amri added that the two RW-owned Waste Terminal facilities were built on BKB Riverbank land and under the authority of BBSWCC.

"The waste processing program not only supports cleanliness, but will also have an impact on empowering the economy of residents," he stated.
