Jakarta Governor, Pramono Anung emphasized the importance of cross-border collaboration to strengthen the commitment to providing quality and inclusive education.

According to him, support for educational staff is needed as times and the world change, so that students' potential can be developed optimally.

He conveyed this while attending the Asia Pacific International Education Conference at the Shangri-La Hotel Jakarta, Tuesday (10/13).

"The theme 'Organization for Power: Education Unions Shaping the Future of Education in the Asia Pacific Region', highlights the important role of education unions in shaping the future of education," said Pramono.

According to Pramono, every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and pursue their dreams. The government must listen to the wishes and needs of the community and use credible data in making decisions to achieve this.

The Jakarta Provincial Government is also committed to ensuring every student has the opportunity to learn through various educational programs, such as the KJP Plus, KJMU, and LPDP. Furthermore, the quality of educational facilities is continuously being improved through the rehabilitation of 19 school buildings.

"Our commitment also includes support for teachers, including those in private schools, while expanding access to quality education through our private school program which we call free schools," he added.

Not only that, Jakarta's Human Development Index (HDI) has also reached 85.05, which is the highest in Indonesia.

Pramono also welcomed the opportunity for collaboration between the Jakarta Provincial Government and schools, universities, and organizations, as Jakarta transforms into a global city.

"Together we can improve the quality of education, strengthen support for teachers, and find better ways to respond to the challenges facing education today," he continued.

The Governor also appreciated the role of the Indonesian Teachers Association (PGRI) in advocating for teacher welfare, professionalism, job protection, and future security.

The General Chairperson of PB PGRI, Unifah Rosyidi, hopes that through this forum, all parties can exchange ideas and strengthen solidarity in building the future of education and teacher welfare.

"We will always stand with teachers, uphold the dignity of the profession, fight for fair welfare, strengthen professionalism, and ensure teachers are protected," she stated.

She assessed that improving teacher welfare will have an impact on the quality of education and a better future for children.

Jakarta hosted this forum, bringing together educators, teacher organizations, and education leaders from across the region. The forum served as a platform for exchanging ideas and strengthening a shared commitment to providing quality education.
