The East Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency is repairing approximately 192 meters of the Induk River retaining wall on Jalan Masjid Al Yaqin, RW 02, Batu Ampar Urban Village, Kramat Jati District. The work, carried out by a third party, is now 75 percent complete.

Head of Kramat Jati's Water Resource Unit, Muchlis said repairs are carried out by the third party auction winner through the East Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency e-Catalog system.

Erosion by high water levels

"The existing embankment on the Induk River is severely damaged due to frequent erosion by high water levels. Therefore, residents have proposed revitalization," he said, Tuesday (10/13).

Muchlis explained that repairs are necessary immediately, as the damage to the retaining wall was feared to worsen if left untreated. Furthermore, the area is home to numerous residential areas, places of worship, and Batu Ampar 01 Public Elementary School.

The project implementer, Amos Benhard Siahaan, explained that physical work began on August 18, 2026, and is targeted for completion on October 26.

"Many of the buildings belong to residents so we have to be extra careful when working on them, especially when using heavy equipment," he explained.

Meanwhile, a member of the RW 02 Urban Village Consultative Council, Batu Ampar Village, Siti Zuriyah said damage occurred at several points in RT 03, RT 06, and RT 07, RW 02, Batu Ampar District. This revitalization is expected to make the retaining wall stronger.

"Hopefully the work will be completed quickly and during the rainy season residents will feel safer," she hoped.
