The Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) held a Joint Effort to Ease Morning Congestion (Gebrak Pagi) at 90 priority locations across five administrative cities on Monday (10/12).

Strengthening traffic management during the morning rush hour

The program enhances routine traffic management, especially in areas where construction projects may disrupt traffic flow.

The 595 Gebrak Pagi personnel joined 825 personnel assigned to routine traffic management, bringing the total number of personnel on duty to 1,420.

Jakarta Transportation Agency Head Budi Awaluddin personally monitored traffic conditions around the Arjuna Wijaya Statue on Jalan MH Thamrin.

Several National Strategic Project (PSN) projects in the area had led to lane closures, requiring officers to carefully manage traffic.

Budi emphasized that Gebrak Pagi was not merely an assignment but also a reflection of the Jakarta Transportation Agency's commitment to serving the public.

"We understand that easing Jakarta's traffic congestion takes more than a single morning's effort. However, having officers on the streets is expected to help ease traffic, address disruptions, and improve residents' journeys," Budi said.

He noted that Gebrak Pagi is held every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 6:30 to 8 AM, based on traffic monitoring data from 48 road sections collected between July and September 2026, which showed higher average traffic volumes on those three days, particularly between 7 and 8 AM.

"These monitoring results serve as one of the bases for strengthening traffic management during the morning rush hour," he added.

Gebrak Pagi also involves Anastasia Putri, better known as Mpok Caca, as the Transportation Agency's Ambassador for Traffic Safety and Order, Budi noted.

In addition to helping manage traffic, her presence helps educate the public on obeying traffic signs, avoiding stopping indiscriminately, and following officers' directions. The public already knows her through the CCTV Jakarta Take Over program.

Budi added that the Jakarta Transportation Agency would evaluate Gebrak Pagi to determine how the program could be developed further, including the possibility of adding more locations, activity days, or personnel.

"With the motto 'Be Present on the Road, Keep Traffic Moving,' the Transportation Agency calls on all road users to help maintain order and safety for smoother journeys across Jakarta," he said.
