Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung inspected the completed rehabilitation and integration of SDN 05 Pekayon and SMPN 91 school buildings in Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta, Monday (10/12).
The two school facilities, which had stood for 50 to 60 years, have undergone total renovations to become modern, vertical-concept educational facilities.
This is the first time we've renovated and built vertically
Pramono noted that the upgraded school features elevators, a prayer room, a cafeteria, disability access, fire protection, sports facilities, a library, and green space.
"It was previously a single-story building. This is the first time we've renovated and built vertically to free up ground space for sports facilities," he explained.
He added the integrated school project cost Rp 101.3 billion. He hoped that the upgraded facilities would boost learning conditions and foster higher-performing students.
The new facility has been in use since the start of the 2026–2027 school year. Beyond replacing severely damaged infrastructure, the project increases student capacity and expands school access in Pekayon Urban Village.
Overall, Jakarta is renovating 19 school buildings citywide under an Rp 876.79 billion budget initiative. 16 locations are already complete.
"Three are still underway, including SDN 1 Cipete Utara. The other two, SDN Setiabudi 01 and SMK 37, are essentially done with less than one percent left," he added.
Pramono called on the Education Agency head to quickly finalize the renovations so classes can resume.
"We are fully supported by the legislative, with total costs for the 19 buildings amounting to Rp 876.79 billion," he noted.
