Jakarta Legislative Council Commission E Secretary Justin Adrian Untayana has called on the Jakarta government to monitor the Influenza A virus closely following case spikes in other regions.

He pressed the Jakarta Health Agency to roll out routine screenings and health checks to keep the capital safe.

Jakarta government must roll out updated screenings immediately

“Jakarta government and the Health Agency can't let their guard down. We must prevent an outbreak before it threatens the well-being of our residents,” he expressed, Wednesday (10/7).

The call comes after Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung reported a 15 percent uptick in Influenza A cases. Justin pushed for renewed diagnostic screening to assess whether the outbreak is contained or reaching critical levels.

“Jakarta government must roll out updated screenings immediately to confirm if the infection rate is still within safe boundaries or escalating further,” he explained.

Justin pressed health agency to ensure regional public hospitals are prepared for potential patient spikes. He emphasized, stockpiles of antiviral medications and protective gear for frontline medical workers must remain well-stocked to avoid service disruptions and protect caregivers from infection.

So, Justin also urged residents to strengthen their immunity amid the ongoing outbreak by eating well, getting enough sleep, and exercising regularly.

“People must adopt healthy daily habits to keep their immune systems strong and prevent catching the virus,” he stated.
