Jakarta Inflation Hits 0.31 Percent in September

The Jakarta Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded monthly inflation of 0.31 percent in September 2026, while year-to-date inflation stood at 1.78 percent.

Mainly driven by higher prices in the food, beverages, and tobacco group

Jakarta BPS Head Kadarmanto said the 0.31 percent inflation was mainly driven by a 0.64 percent increase in prices in the food, beverages, and tobacco group, which contributed 0.08 percentage points.

"Jakarta's inflation in September 2026 was mainly driven by higher prices in the food, beverages, and tobacco group," Kadarmanto said, as quoted in a written statement on Tuesday (10/6).

He explained that the commodities contributing most to inflation in the food, beverages, and tobacco group were chicken, bird's eye chilies, face masks, gasoline, and rice.

Chicken contributed 0.06 percentage points, while bird's eye chilies, face masks, and gasoline each contributed 0.02 percentage points, and rice contributed 0.01 percentage points.

He added that several commodities contributed to deflation and helped curb inflation, including airfares, shallots, jewelry gold, tomatoes, and men's T-shirts.

Airfares contributed 0.03 percentage points to deflation, while shallots, jewelry gold, tomatoes, and men's T-shirts each contributed 0.01 percentage points.
