Residents of RT 02/01, Gunung Urban Village, Kebayoran Baru District, South Jakarta participated in the socialization and education on early fire prevention held by the South Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-agency.

Head of the Gunung Gulkarmat Task Force, Nurul Komar, said the activity was carried out to increase residents' awareness and preparedness in facing the potential for fires that could occur at any time.

Caring about safety

"We want to build an understanding that the danger of fire that can occur at any time due to negligence or technical factors in the surrounding environment can be prevented or handled well," he said, Friday (10/2).

Komar explained that the activity, which was attended by around 30 participants, provided a number of materials, including procedures for evacuating residents to a safe assembly point, handling small fires, and how to use a light fire extinguisher (APAR).

Residents also received direct training on how to extinguish fires using APAR and fire blankets, as well as simulations of early fire handling.

"Our hope is that this activity can also instill a culture of caring about safety," he hoped.

Meanwhile, one of RT 02/01 administrators, Ilham Daniky admitted this training is crucial for residents, especially since their residential area is densely populated and prone to fires.

"Residents were very enthusiastic and hoped that training like this could be held regularly. Many elderly residents participated," he admitted.
