The third-quarter area improvement project on Jalan Ismail Buntu, RT 01/06, Bukit Duri Urban Village, Tebet Sub-district, South Jakarta, has transformed a neglected plot near Tebet Station into a greener, more attractive garden.

Bukit Duri Urban Village Economy and Development Section Head Ali Imron said the site had previously been a neglected plot that was often used for illegal dumping and other inappropriate activities.

"It took around two and a half months to build Tebet Station Garden, with five PPSU personnel involved in the work," he said on Monday (9/28).

Ali explained that the 50-square-meter garden was developed with support from the South Jakarta Parks and Urban Forestry Sub-agency through the provision of various types of ornamental plants and shade trees, as well as overall landscaping.

Ali said the new garden is expected to not only improve the appearance of the area but also encourage residents to keep the surroundings clean and orderly.

Going forward, the urban village administration plans to develop similar sites in other parts of Bukit Duri, particularly in areas that need improvement and revitalization.

"We hope the garden will raise public awareness about keeping the environment clean and help create an orderly, neat, and comfortable area," he said.

Meanwhile, Rusdianto, a local resident, welcomed the improvement, noting that the site is one of the main pedestrian access points to Tebet Station.

He said the new garden has made the area neater and more comfortable for residents and pedestrians passing through.

"The improvement is very good. Hopefully, people will not litter or do anything else that could damage the area," he added.
