The Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Professional Training Center (P4Ekraf) is holding a 2026 Food and Beverage Bartender Training and Certification Program at Sparks Life Hotel in West Jakarta from September 22 to 25.

The training, attended by 40 selected participants from businesses and workers in Jakarta's beverage service industry, is designed to address the challenges and market needs of the modern hotel, restaurant, and cafe industry.

Unlike previous years, the curriculum used in this year's training is based on the ASEAN Toolbox, which serves as the highest standard for tourism education and training in Southeast Asia.

Over the four-day program, participants receive training in key areas, including beverage preparation and serving techniques, bar operations, workplace safety and hygiene, and responsible service of alcoholic beverages.

Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Agency Head Andhika Permata highlighted the importance of improving the capacity of local workers to support Jakarta as a global tourism destination.

He said the role of bartenders has evolved into a frontline service profession that requires a high level of expertise, ranging from technical skills and an understanding of service standards to communication skills that meet international standards.

"Through this ASEAN-based training, we want to ensure that Jakarta's tourism workforce is highly competitive, professional, and ready to provide the best service to domestic and international tourists," he said Thursday (9/24).

Meanwhile, Head of the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Professional Training Center Endrati Fariani explained that the bartender training and certification program is part of the local government's ongoing commitment to expanding employment opportunities and developing professional careers in the tourism and creative economy sectors.

She added that the program also focuses on improving the quality of inclusive services in Jakarta.

"Beyond technical skills and BNSP certification preparation, the training also includes supporting materials to promote a more inclusive and welcoming Jakarta for everyone, including people with disabilities," she said.

The program includes training and practical sessions from September 22 to 24, followed by the BNSP Certification Competency Test on September 25, conducted in collaboration with Bhatara Tunas Perkasa School and the Hotel and Restaurant Professional Certification Institute (LSP).

"We hope the 40 selected participants will complete all stages of the program successfully and contribute to raising professional standards in Jakarta's hotel and restaurant industry," she said.
