To bolster coastal protection, the Seribu Islands Water Resources Sub-agency (SDA) is installing a heavy-duty concrete cube seawall on the eastern side of RT 01 and 03/RW 05, Kelapa Dua Island, Kelapa Dua Island Urban Village, North Seribu Islands Sub-district.

Seribu Islands Water Resources Sub-agency Head, Frans Agustinus Siahaan explained that the 30-meter-long, 1.6-meter-wide barrier directly responds to local community proposals from the 2025 Musrenbang planning forum.

"Nine personnel are deployed for the concrete cube installation, which is designed to shield homes from coastal erosion and tidal flooding," he expressed, Wednesday (9/23).

Following the placement of the concrete cubes, personnel will move on to formwork setup and phased concrete pouring.

These steps are crucial to fortify the seawall against strong ocean currents, particularly during harsh weather conditions.

"Work is currently 40 percent complete, with full completion slated for October," he noted.

Frans hoped that the new barrier would give coastal residents greater protection and reassurance against tidal threats.

"We encourage locals to join us in taking care of this structure, ensuring it stays in top condition to protect the island for years to come," he added.

This project received appreciation from the local, Firdaus (42).

"We are truly grateful because high waves used to flood our neighborhood during the western monsoon season. Having this sea wall gives us real peace of mind," he added.
