Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung delivered a keynote at the Urban (U20) Mayoral Plenary at Civic Hall in New York, USA, Sunday (9/20).
Addressing world city leaders, Pramono showcased Jakarta's economic resilience in Q2 2026 despite global challenges.
Jakarta continues to record strong growth
"Amid worldwide economic headwinds, Jakarta continues to record strong growth. In the second quarter of this year, our economy expanded by 5.52 percent while inflation remained low at 2.5 percent," he highlighted.
Thanks to this economic stability, Jakarta welcomed an impressive USD 10.5 billion in investment within just six months.
Pram leveraged the U20 forum to build global partnerships and spotlight high-impact projects.
"Jakarta is unlocking investment opportunities across 37 major urban development projects worth USD 7 billion. We invite city leaders, businesses, and global partners to invest in Jakarta and shape the future of our city together," he explained.
During the U20 Plenary Session, international municipal leaders convened for the opening address delivered by the host, New York Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani.
In his opening statement, Mayor Mamdani commended the participating city officials and delineated the three key thematic priorities of Urban 20 2026: affordable housing and homelessness mitigation, sustainable climate action and resilient urban infrastructure, and the protection of immigrant populations alongside human mobility.
Notably, the U20 Mayoral Summit is convening in New York, USA, from September 19 to 21, 2026.
The forum is expected to produce a joint communique and strategic policy recommendations from global city leaders to foster sustainable urban development.
