The East Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency revitalize a 743-meter water channel on Jalan SPG 7, RW 09, Lubang Buaya Urban Village, Cipayung District.

Head of the Drainage Development and Improvement Section of the East Jakarta Water Resources Sub-agency, Tengku Saugi Zikri, said that the revitalization is carried out to anticipate flooding during the rainy season.

"The condition of the existing channel is considered no longer adequate because it is only about 30 centimeters wide, so flooding often occurs," he said, Friday (9/18).

Saugi explained that the work had begun on August 11, 2026, and is targeted for completion on November 8.

"Work progress has reached approximately 19.48 percent," he added.

The channel revitalization is carried out by installing 60x60 centimeter and 80x80 centimeter U-ditches, as well as 80x80 centimeter and 120x120 centimeter box culverts.

"The depth of the water channel varies between 1.5 to 2.8 meters to ensure good elevation so that the water can flow smoothly," he continued.

Meanwhile, Head of Lubang Buaya Urban Village, Latiful Syamsi, appreciated the work.

He stated that flooding has often occurred because the land contour in the area is lower or resembles a basin.

"The revitalization of this water channel is expected to be effective in preventing flooding in the RT 09 and 11 areas in RW 09," he stated.
