The Central Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Sub-agency optimized the water channel capacity on Jalan Cideng Barat RT 14/RW 02 by using a concrete u-ditch measuring 60 centimeters wide and 100 centimeters high.

Head Section of Drainage Maintenance for the Sub-agency, Citrin Indriati said the normalization of the 450 meter long channel is carried out by 10 blue troop personnel with the assistance of one heavy equipment, since August 19.

"Currently, the work progress has only reached 15 percent, we are targeting completion in the third week of December," she said, Friday (9/18).

According to Citrin, this channel normalization follows up on residents' proposals submitted at the 2026 Musrenbang. Residents complained that the channel water often overflowed during rain, causing flooding in their area.

"Before normalization, our personnel drained 40 centimeters of mud deposits," she added.

She is optimistic that after normalization, the channel will be able to handle flooding when it rains because its water capacity will be greater.

One of the local residents, Julianto, admitted water in the drains often overflows onto the road due to the thick mud deposits and the small condition of the drains.

"Hopefully, the channel will be able to flow the water smoothly," he hoped.
