Jakarta is acting fast to tackle clean water shortages as a prolonged dry season hits residential communities.

Governor Pramono Anung confirmed that city teams are working around the clock to deliver clean water to affected areas.

"We are actively distributing water supplies right now," he assured reporters at City Hall, Wednesday (9/16).

Pramono confirmed that reports of drought have been coming in from multiple neighborhoods via the JAKI app and direct complaints, prompting quick relief efforts.

He hoped that the El Niño-fueled drought would not drag on past predictions, warning that the extreme heat is not just cutting off clean water—it's also triggering fire risks.

"If this continues, the long drought will hit hard. We’re already seeing open fields, like the one at Air Force HQ recently, suddenly burst into flames," he added.
