Commission D of the Jakarta City Council recommends accelerating budget absorption and development implementation in the Draft Regional Regulation on the 2026 Regional Budget Amendments to ensure timely completion of priority programs and prevent a large budget surplus (SiLPA).

Chairman of Jakarta City Council's Commission D, Yuke Yurike, said budget allocation adjustments are directed to support a number of priority needs.

"These include improving waste management, markets, development and public services in Sub-agencies, and cemeteries in Jakarta," she said, Tuesday (9/15).

Commission D also requested that all regional government agencies accelerate budget absorption and physical development. Regional government heads were asked to strengthen monitoring and evaluation until the end of 2026 to ensure program implementation is effective and on target.

For the waste sector, Commission D is pushing for the strengthening of waste management facilities and infrastructure in administrative city areas and increasing processing capacity. Relevant agencies are also being asked to prepare alternative waste management options, such as collaborating with the private sector if necessary.

In the disaster management sector, Commission D requested strengthening flood mitigation by increasing pump capacity, accelerating infrastructure development, and improving suboptimal drainage, particularly in East Jakarta.

"Coordination between the Public Housing and Settlement Areas Agency (DPRKP) and the Water Resources Agency (SDA) also needs to be strengthened to anticipate flooding during the rainy season," she added.

In addition, Commission D is pushing for optimized park and tree maintenance, improved cemetery facilities, and strengthened building oversight and certificates of occupancy. Supervision is necessary to prevent fires and other incidents.

"It is hoped that all these recommendations will ensure that the 2026 revised budget truly supports public services, the completion of priority programs, and improving the quality of Jakarta's environment and infrastructure," she hoped.
