Streetlights that had gone out on Jalan Bekasi Timur, Cipinang Besar Utara Urban Village, Jatinegara Sub-district, East Jakarta, are now back in service after the East Jakarta Public Works Sub-agency repaired the network and replaced several electrical components.

Not only damaged cables but also twisted cables that had been stolen at the two locations

Repairs were also carried out on the streetlights at Pedati Pedestrian Bridge (JPO) on Jalan DI Panjaitan. The work was conducted after personnel found network problems and damaged cables at both locations.

East Jakarta Public Works Sub-agency Head Benhard Hutajulu said the problems were discovered after several streetlights at the locations went out on Sunday (9/13) night.

"We have deployed a team to find out what caused the streetlights to go out on Jalan Bekasi Timur and at JPO Pedati," he said on Monday (9/14).

Meanwhile, Yanuar Ikhsan, head of the Urban Infrastructure, Facilities and Utilities (PSUK) and Street Lighting Section at the East Jakarta Public Works Sub-agency, said six Yellow Troops personnel were deployed to address the streetlight outages at the two locations.

He said personnel found not only damaged cables but also twisted cables that had been stolen at the two locations. As a result, the team had to install new network lines to restore the electricity supply and get the streetlights working again.

"At JPO Pedati area on Jalan DI Panjaitan, 15 streetlights were out. One other light was still on but flickering," he explained.

He assured that all the faulty lights had now been fitted with new components, allowing the streetlights around JPO Pedati to work normally again.

"We hope that the restored streetlights will provide greater comfort and safety for people who are active in the area at night," he emphasized.
