The East Jakarta Food Security, Maritime, and Agriculture Sub-agency (KPKP) has administered rabies vaccines to 9,738 potential carrier animals as of September 11, 2026, bolstering local rabies eradication efforts.
Jakarta KPKP Agency Head, Taufik Yulianto noted that mobile vaccination teams deploy daily across neighborhoods—including RT/RW centers, RPTRAs, and local administration offices—to streamline pet care access.
We urge pet owners to keep immunizations up to date
"We have successfully vaccinated 9,738 potential rabies carriers between January and September 11," he expressed, Monday (9/14).
He explained that cats accounted for the vast majority of vaccinated animals at 8,075. Dogs followed with 1,582, alongside 54 monkeys and 27 civets.
"This achievement will continue to grow as our rabies vaccination services will run through December 2026," he explained.
Calling vaccination a critical safeguard for public health, Taufik urged pet owners to keep their animals' immunizations up to date.
"We'll sustain our door-to-door outreach to ensure Jakarta remains strictly rabies-free," he concluded.
Taufik urged residents to participate actively in neighborhood vaccination pop-ups, confirming that mobile teams are also vaccinating stray animals on the ground.
"We urge pet owners to keep immunizations up to date, while our outreach teams continue to cover local strays," he added.
