The South Jakarta Child Protection, Women's Empowerment, and Population Control Sub-agency (PPAPP) has handled 239 cases of violence against women and children.

Jakarta PPAPP Agency Head, Rizky Hamid stated that handling these cases is part of local government efforts to provide legal and social protection while ensuring victims receive care tailored to their specific needs.

"We have handled all 239 cases between January and August 2026," he expressed, Monday (9/14).

Citing Jakarta Women and Children Protection Center (PPPA) data, he noted that monthly abuse reports in South Jakarta fluctuated continuously between January and August 2026.

Reports started at 27 in January, dipped to 20 in February, then trended upward through June at 32.

July marked the highest peak at 44 cases, while August saw a decline to 26.

"Domestic violence against women comprised 64 of the total cases," he explained.

Jagakarsa led sub-district breakdowns with 35 cases, ahead of Pesanggrahan at 30 and Cilandak at 29.

Psychological violence made up the bulk of reports at 140 cases, alongside 105 physical abuse cases and 104 sexual violence incidents.

"Multiple forms of abuse are frequently reported within single cases," he explained.

Rizky noted the figures represent filed reports rather than total unrecorded incidents.

Rising figures highlight greater public confidence in reporting abuse and improved service accessibility.

"Higher reporting rates signal that victims feel more empowered to step forward and get support," he continued.

He urged anyone experiencing or witnessing abuse against women and children to report it immediately.

"Free reporting services are available via local RPTRA posts, the Jakarta PPPA Unit, emergency hotline 112, or the 24-hour WhatsApp hotline at 0852-1786-6445," he added.

He emphasized that government protocols strictly guarantee reporter and victim confidentiality. Comprehensive aid—spanning mental health support and legal counseling—is fully accessible.

"Don't hesitate to reach out. Reporting abuse helps us foster a safer community for women and children," he asserted.
