The Kelapa Island Urban Village ranks, Seribu Utara Islands District, Seribu Islands distributed hundreds of free masks to the community and tourists as a measure of preparedness and health protection from the potential impact of the spread of volcanic ash.

Head of Kelapa Urban Village, Muhammad Adriansyah said socialization and distribution of masks have been carried out intensively since Monday (9/7).

"We urge the public to wear masks and distribute them directly to residents and tourists who are visiting," he said, Tuesday (9/8).

Adriansyah explained that this activity was a form of government concern for public safety and health in anticipating the potential impacts of the spread of volcanic ash.

"We also remind the public to reduce outdoor activities if air quality conditions decline due to the impact of the spread of volcanic ash," he appealed.

According to him, the urban village ranks prepare 500 masks every day to be distributed to people of various age groups, from adults to children.

He invited all elements of society to remind each other and maintain health to minimize the risk of respiratory disorders.

Meanwhile, Sahdan, a Member of the Seribu Utara Islands Regency Council, supported the responsive measures taken by the Kelapa Island Urban Village.

He stated that preventive measures are necessary to provide a sense of security for residents and tourists.

"It is important to ensure that public safety and health are maintained amidst the potential impacts of existing natural disasters," he admitted.
