East Jakarta Mayor, Munjirin urged residents to increase their vigilance against the potential for open land fires during the dry season, which is predicted to last quite a long time.

Munjirin said that caution is especially needed in open areas filled with piles of trash and dry grass. These conditions are considered a concern because they can increase the risk of fire during hot weather.

As an anticipatory measure

"I would like to remind you again regarding the predicted prolonged dry weather. Areas with lots of open areas littered with trash or dry grass should be inspected frequently," he said, Tuesday (9/8).

Munjirin explained that residents, along with RT and RW administrators, need to carry out routine monitoring to ensure the condition of open land in their neighborhood.

"If you find a pile of rubbish or dry grass, you need to take immediate action as an anticipatory measure," he explained.

He reminded residents not to take the condition of open land lightly, as happened in Dukuh Urban Village in early August.

"In the incident, the open area was filled with piles of trash and a fire broke out. During the handling process, a firefighter died," he added.

He asked RT/RW administrators and urban village officials to mitigate open land that could potentially cause fires.
